Prima Gothic Fairytale

Hello everyone! This is the time of the year when Prima has the annual DT Call. I decided to join the movement, took a bunch of Prima goodies and put them together in my way - in the Gothic Fairytale style. I decided to follow my way and my emotions and created three projects that I hope express my thoughts and my imagination. This means I had to include my ingredients that I love and enjoy to work with: dark glows, broken buttons, dark branches, stitches, wire...

The first project is a Mixed Media Canvas. The title is Five pieces of one heart and I've made it for my sister for her 40's birthday. This heart represents each memeber of her family and together they form a heart.

I covered each piece of a cardboard heart with different patterned paper. I decided for the Something blue Prima Collection. The pink pieces are for the girls. The majority of Prima embellishments are on the piece that represents my sister as  the gift is for her and as moms are the heart of the family. All the pieces are sewed together  - the family bonds. Each member is spreading out his/her branch as every single person is a someone that contributes to the world in his/her very personal way. Each branch also reveals the name of the single family memeber.

The Prima Vintage ziplock says "Moments" as this is what a family has in common. Our goal is to enjoy them, accept them, deal with them, remember them, learn from them...

The second project is a layout. It's about life. You all probably know the thought from The Lion King:

“The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it.”

I decided to put it down in this LO for my son. This lesson is quite hard but yet so simple. The past doesn't exist anymore but at the same time it can be a great gift. So, the secret is not to only remember but it goes further - to Learn! I simply started with writing the thought with different pencils at the top and continue with it all throuhgt the page.

I started with putting a dark glow all arround the edge and in the center with the Chalk edgers. In this LO I used the Prima pencils to make some distressing elements from the top of the paper and out of the little holes as well. I stamped the Prima Fence stamp and also filled the empty spaces with the pencil to create a diamond pattern.

I have to admit I love to tear appart the Prima flowers and get them distressed in every way but I appologize with sewing the pieces back together again :-)

Vintage trinkets an some stamping, drops of Prima bloom mist, branches and pins arround the center leads the focus to the most important part of the LO.

Also my third project is a LO. It says:

"You were born to be real, not perfect."

I decided to use the Prima bloom spray mist but this time I didn't want to spray it. Instead I prefered to use some Masking fluid to write the most important word in this thought: REAL. Then I used the Masking fluid also to delineate the heart shaped stain. I simply covered this part with different Prima bloom colors put them on the paper with the brush and after dry I rubbed off the Masking fluid and I love how the heart popped out. I completed the heart with the Prima watercolor pencils - just an accent here and there on the edges of the heart and some distressed efects.

The borders are adorned with some texture paste and golden flakes and they are in a good company of the Finnabair Prima clear stamp - Vintage Vanity collection.

Gypsy Moments Surprise Canvas

Hello everyone. I wanted to invite you to see the fabulous pattern of the Gypsy Moments papers from 7Gypsies. I love them and this time I use them to make a small surprise form y friend Roberta. Some time ago she saw my three canvases (the Flower canvas, the Poison Mashroom canvas and the Follow Me canvas ) in my Gothic Fairytale in an exibition I had and she said that she would love to have one. I enjoy making pieces that find a lovely place to "live" and don't stay in drawers and so I decided to make her a canvas ad personam and of course in my Gothic Fairytale style. This means stitches, black branches,… The canvas title is : R is for…

You would say that is just because her name is Roberta but this R is also for romance, reading, rebel, relaxation,… and maybe even for Rok (her husband). Every day she can decide what this R stands for.

I find that the patterns of the Gypsy moments paper would be perfect for this occasion, They have a retro scent and that was I needed. I put together a big R that I cut out of just regular cardboard. I glued different types of Gypsy moments pattern paper, distressed and glued everythhing on the canvas on the black R shaped glow.

I make some stitches to join the pieces together.  With a toothpick I painted the irregular braches using the Tattered Angels  Black High Imact Paint. Some of the branches continue in a 3D way because I put some wire throught the branches ends and painted also the wire as well.I used the Tattered Angels Glimmer MIst to make some spots of paint here and there and also painted the small letteres ( the names of her three kids) with it.

From Canvas Corp, beside the canvas itself I also used the wire and the metal hardware pieces that give a grungy spice.I added a few drops of Green High Impact Paint.

I hope she will like it.... See you next time!

Black and Gold Layout

Hello everyone. It's been a hard time lately with some flu coming arround and finally I'm back in shape with a new layout...

I love to start a project from the title and when I have it most of the times the realization is easy and poetic. This time I run into a Carolyn Gold Heilbrun’s quote: “Romance is the glamour which turns the dust of everyday life into a golden haze.” As my LO is dedicated to my son I decided to use the word LOVE instead of the word romance. And don’t you think is true: we can get a marvelous gold patine from special moments… or we can paint someones life with gold with our presence…. So, let’s use some gold from Tattered Angels ;-)
But let’s start from the beginning I had to create the dust first to respect the quote and i sprayed the left part of the Tattered Angels Mistable paper  Brushed Cotton with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist  Tarnished Silver. It has the right sense of dust with the presence of the silver in it. With the Black Chalkboard mist I also make some spots here and there and added extra dimension with the Black High Impact Paint using a toothpick. I used cards and tags from the Gypsy Moments collection from 7Gypsies to draw a focal point.

You can see that I teared a heart out of the paper that transforms the dust to gold. Also the gold part is created with Tattered Angels Sunflower Glimmer Mist and  the Antique Gold High impact Paint. I also used some gold flakes to give to the haze an extra shiny look. It’s very easy to apply them because the High Impact Paint in this case is used also as glue for the gold flakes.

Adding some additional items to the photo the layout takes life. There are some pieces from 7Gypsies (the photo corner and the apozhecary label) and others from Canvas Corp (metal hardware, wire and pins).

I hope you like it...See you next time!

Christmas Fairytale Little Red Queen Christmas tree

Hello everyone. Let's continue our Christmas Fairytale with a super simple project! A cute christmas tree made up from.... christmas presents. Of course they are fake but don't tell anyone!!!

If you want to make this kind of tree you just have to glue together some sqares of cardboard and than wrap them in pattern paper. I used some really lovely red and white paper from Canvas Corp. I used some rope and some wire also from Canvas Corp to replace the classic ribbon.

The decoration s are up to you. I suggest small ones to keep the gifts visible.  Remember that you can make the packages in the size you want depending on what size you want your tree to be.

Christmas Fairytale Icy Tree

Here is my third project that continues the Christmas Fairytale. It's an icy looking tree but I would said that there is also a pinch of whimsical atmosphere because all that swirls, dots and stripes, don't you think.

I always want to make something in a new way and this time I used something that is typically for fall but in the end the tree looks a real winter queen. I decided to use the Sizzix Bigz Die - Tattered Leaves  and display them in the tree shape using a simple paper cone for the base. I've cut out many leaves from the Canvas Corp papers:  Farmhouse Christmas on Ivory, Blue &Ivory Ribbon Stripe, th Black &White Love Newsprint, the Tan &Ivory Mini Dot Reverse and I also cut the leave from the Tattered Angels Mistable Papers Soaker and Corduroy. Many leaves that make a nice dimension.

The base of the tree is made with cream burlap from Canvas Corp. It was only necessary to add a turquoise bow.

On the leaves, to make them stronger, I used the crackle paint, some white acrylic for the traces of snow and some glitter and small shiny stars.

I also made some swirly and put them in between the leaves to make the tree more intresting and full. Some of the swirls are enriched with the Dome Studs from 7Gypsies and I also glued on the tree some crystaly from the same brand.

The tag is from the Farmhouse Christmas Tags on Ivory paper. You get a 12 x 12 with a lot of tags and use them in many projects. They are so nice!

An icy tree for you and me.....

Christmas fairytale Winter Wonderland Surprise ball

I'm back. I'm continuing the Christmas Fairytale and I have another Surprise ball to share with you. This one is Winter Wonderland...

As for the first one also this one is covered with some odl already ruined curtain and painted with some semitransparent acrylic paint and Champagne Glimmer Glam from Tattered Angels will give  to the new creation an old look.

For the inside I got a big help from my mom. She did the tiny christmas tree and the snowflake. Both are enriched with crystals and the little tree has also the dome studs form 7Gypsies representing the Christmas ornaments. Alittle snowflake is floating arround the christmas treee helped with the wire from the metal hardware from Canvas Corp.  I also cut out a wreats from the same paper and put it on arround the button on the top of the ball.

I cut out the phrase from the Winter Wonderland out of the Stripe on Ivory paper and distressed it. I also added a pinch of glitter on every tiny snowflake. Also this time I used the canvas circle form Canvas Corp for the base where the tree is standing.

Also this time: to be continued....
